Press Releases McDONOUGH HOLLAND & ALLEN’S DICK OSEN RECEIVES SACRAMENTO STARS AWARD FOR DEDICATION TO PHILANTHROPY SACRAMENTO, Oct. 15, 2007 – On Oct. 13, McDonough Holland & Allen PC Shareholder Richard “Dick” Osen was honored at the Annual Sacramento Stars Gala for his lifelong dedication to community service. This year, Osen is being recognized along with SACTO's Executive Director, Barbara Hayes. Dick has devoted more than 25 years to humanitarian service in the region, including contributions to Gala beneficiary WIND Youth Services, a nonprofit agency addressing the needs of homeless youth in Sacramento. Professionally, Osen has practiced law at McDonough for 33 years, serving as the firm’s managing shareholder from 1992-2001. “It is an honor to practice law with Dick. He is not only among the most respected Sacramento attorneys, business leaders and mentors, but more importantly, he has an unprecedented commitment to giving back to his community,” said Jim Leet, McDonough’s Board Chairman. “Honoring Dick as a Sacramento Star is a perfect way to recognize and celebrate his decades of philanthropic crusading. Osen’s diverse community involvement includes current service as chairman of the Capital Public Radio Endowment and past chairman and current member of the board of directors of Sutter Medical Center Foundation and Capital Public Radio. He also is a board member for Families First, Sierra Adoption Agency, the Sacramento Division of the American Heart Association, KVIE Public Television and Sacramento Downtown Rotary. Concurrent with his charitable involvements, Osen maintains an active employment and commercial litigation law practice at McDonough. He represents employers in all types of employment and labor controversies, including negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and jury and non-jury trials in state and federal courts. Osen also litigates on behalf of commercial and real estate clients ranging from individuals to Fortune 500 companies. In addition, he is involved in injury and product liability matters, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Osen received the Sacramento County Bar Association’s Humanitarian of the Year Award in 1998, the President’s Award for Distinguished Service from McGeorge Alumni Association in 2001, and was recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer in 2004. He earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (1968) and his B.A. from California State University, Sacramento (1964).
