McDonough Holland & Allen PC Leases at 500 Capitol Mall in Sacramento - Large Sacramento Law Firm Commits to Several Floors as New High-Rise Celebrates Topping Out Friday, May 23.

SACRAMENTO, May 23, 2008 – McDonough Holland & Allen PC has signed a lease at 500 Capitol Mall, a Class A, 25-story high-rise being built in downtown Sacramento. Celebrating its topping out Friday, 500 Capitol Mall is owned and being developed by Tsakopoulos Investments. McDonough, a 211-employee firm—and Sacramento’s second largest—will take occupancy of at least three floors in June 2009.

“We moved to our current location in 1973 with only 14 attorneys. After 35 years and expansion to 78 attorneys in the Sacramento office alone, we felt it was time to find space built to suit our current operations and future growth,” said McDonough’s Managing Shareholder Edward J. Quinn, Jr. “This is a wonderful opportunity for the firm to collaborate with our design team to create a highly cost-efficient workplace that both compliments McDonough's corporate culture and enhances the firm's client service. The new space will include state-of-the-art technology improvements such as a conference center, centralized records and library services, and some hoteling workstations.”

McDonough is the first law firm to lease in the new building, which features an exterior of polished granite and high performance glass aimed at enhancing indoor air quality and protecting tenants from the heat and glare. The interior is anchored by a four-story atrium lobby with granite patterned floors and columns. Other facility amenities will include on-site property management, a fitness center, ten levels of parking and ground floor retail spaces including a restaurant and bank.

“500 Capitol Mall enhances downtown Sacramento’s skyline, and we have gone to great lengths to ensure our tenants’ experiences are greatly enhanced too—something McDonough Holland & Allen recognizes,” said Angelo G. Tsakopoulos, owner and developer.

Brokers Bill Swettenham, senior vice president, and Stephen L. Bay, executive vice president, of CB Richard Ellis represented McDonough in lease negotiations, assisted by Mark Smith of The Staubach Company on construction matters. Greg Levi of CB Richard Ellis represented Tsakopoulos Investments. Ed Kado of E.M. Kado & Associates is the architect and Rudolph and Sletten is the general contractor of 500 Capitol Mall.

“We would like to thank the members of our brokerage, construction and design team for their diligence in making this a reality. We also want to recognize our own partners, Jeff Jones and Pat Elliott, for their expert guidance during lease negotiation and drafting,” said Quinn.
