McDonough Holland & Allen’s James Leet Elected to SACTO Board of Directors
SACRAMENTO, August 25, 2008 – McDonough Holland & Allen PC Shareholder James L. Leet was elected to the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) Board of Directors. SACTO is the Sacramento region’s leading facilitator of economic development, bringing together the organizations, information and resources in pursuit of the jobs, talent and investment needed to ensure regional prosperity and global competitiveness.
“Jim has long been a valued member of our firm. He serves as Chair of our own Board of Directors and is very active in professional and community organizations. His rich business and legal experience coupled with his natural ability to mentor and lead make him an ideal addition to SACTO’s board. Both Jim and our firm have a long history and commitment to SACTO and its mission. We consider SACTO to be the premier economic development organization in the Western United States.“ said Edward J. Quinn, Jr., Managing Shareholder at McDonough.
McDonough is the only company that has had two individuals serve as a SACTO Board Chair/President (both Quinn and Joseph E. Coomes, Jr.) and the firm is one of three companies that has had three individuals serve on the SACTO board.
A member of McDonough's Business Services Practice Group, Leet’s practice includes all aspects of corporate, partnership and personal income tax planning. He advises his clients on issues relating to real estate exchanges, structure, formation and operation of partnerships and limited liability companies, and planning and implementation of corporate reorganization and business acquisitions.
Leet is a frequent lecturer on corporate, partnership and tax issues for firm-sponsored seminars, state and local bar associations and private companies. He was recently honored by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization for his 20 years of service as a Certified Specialist in taxation law, and he has been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers in America® in that discipline.
In addition to his SACTO involvement, Leet is a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association – Tax Section, which he co-founded and served as the first section chair. He currently serves as president of Arden Carmichael, Inc.; a board member for Resource Area for Teaching; and as a member of the Sacramento Rotary. Leet also has been president of the Sacramento Transportation Management Association and is a past board member of the Inland Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Leet earned his LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida (1981), his J.D. from the University of Santa Clara School of Law (1979) and his A.B., magna cum laude, from St. Louis University (1973).
