THREE ATTORNEYS JOIN McDONOUGH HOLLAND & ALLEN

SACRAMENTO/OAKLAND, June 4, 2003 - Amidst a year of strategic growth, McDonough Holland & Allen, one of Northern California's legal leaders representing both public and private sector clients, adds three associates.

The firm's health care section welcomes Daniela F. Almeida, Dawn M.D. Balzarano and M. David Ruff join the construction section.

Daniela, Dawn, and David bring valuable experience in these areas that will allow us to continue to meet and exceed our clients' expectations."

Almeida is experienced in a variety of litigation matters, including business, civil, employment and professional negligence defense. In both federal and state courts, she has represented a wide range of clients, including businesses, corporations, hospitals, medical entities, municipalities and school districts, among others. Most recently with the Sacramento law firms Weintraub Genshlea Chediak Sproul and Anwyl, Scoffield, Stepp & Universal, Almeida also worked at Feldman, Kieffer & Herman in Buffalo, N.Y. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Buffalo Law School, State University of New York (1997) and her B.A. from Willamette University in Salem, Ore. (1993).

Balzarano concentrates on providing litigation and counseling services to private and public clients in all aspects of construction law. While in law school, she was a summer associate at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP in Palo Alto, Calif. and a legal assistant for Morgenstein & Jubelirer in San Francisco. Balzarano was a legislative intern for the Arizona House of Representatives' Ways & Means Commission, and received an official commendation from the State for her work there. Balzarano also has extensive business experience, having worked for ten years in several Bay Area companies before beginning her legal education. She earned her J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law (2002) and her B.S. from University of Arizona, Tucson (1989).

Ruff concentrates on construction law and litigation. His legal experience includes serving as special deputy district attorney and, previously, as a law clerk for the Marin County District Attorney. Ruff also was a law clerk for the California Assembly Judiciary Committee and an intern for U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer and for U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi. He earned his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley (2002) and his B.A. from University of California, Davis (1999).
