Press ReleasesMcDONOUGH HOLLAND & ALLEN'S DONATION TO SHORT CENTER NORTH HELPS THE DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED McDonough Supports Local Charity's Computer Arts Program SACRAMENTO, July 8, 2005 -- McDonough Holland & Allen PC, a leading Northern California law firm, donated computer equipment worth more than $1,700 to Short Center North (SCN). SCN is a division of the Developmental Disabilities Service Organization (DDSO). Since 1975, DDSO has been committed to its mission of enhancing the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities. Short Center North offers education and experience in literacy, basic academics, community access and services, vocational skills, and placement, as well as in culture and the arts. The firm's donation of computer processing units, monitors, keyboards and mouses was intended to enhance the visual arts program and will be used to teach SCN participants about graphic design and multi media presentations through programs such as iTunes, iMovie and PhotoShop. SCN's visual artworks are well known in the Sacramento community with exhibits held at venues including Utrecht, WEAVEworks, Matrix Galleries, and the California State Fair, as well as being a co-founder and active partner of New Visions Gallery. SCN has also completed two mural projects displayed at the Alta California Regional Center and the Country Club Plaza. “McDonough is proud to be a supporter of the Short Center North program. The training SCN provides to the developmentally disabled not only improves the quality of life for their students, it benefits the communities in which they live,” said Gerry Holt, McDonough's executive director.
