Atencio joins from the City Attorney’s office in Oakland, where he counseled city departments in various areas of municipal law, including land use, real estate and development, finance, administrative hearing rules, constitutional law, and contract compliance. During his tenure, he handled design development agreements, leases, licenses and legislation for the Community and Economic Development Agency, City Council, Parks and Recreation, and Oakland Museum. Previously, Atencio represented public agencies, businesses and individuals at The Law Offices of Kevin W. Finck and at Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Rudy LLP. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law (2000) and his B.B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque (1997).
