McDONOUGH HOLLAND & ALLEN’S MICHELLE MARCHETTA KENYON APPOINTED SECOND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE CITY ATTORNEYS DEPARTMENT OF THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES

OAKLAND, CALIF., Sept. 19, 2006 – McDonough Holland & Allen PC, one of Northern California’s legal leaders representing both public and private sector clients, announces that Michelle Marchetta Kenyon, a shareholder and head of the firm’s Oakland office, has been chosen as second vice president of the City Attorneys Department of the League of California Cities. Traditionally, the second vice president advances to first vice president and then to president of the department.

“We are pleased that Michelle was selected for a presidential term with the League, and she is more than qualified to take on this role,” said Jeffry Jones, managing shareholder at McDonough Holland & Allen. “Michelle has been an incredible and loyal attorney for our firm and the cities she represents. This is a clear measure of the respect that her fellow city attorneys have for her and a vote of confidence in the comprehensive perspective and sound vision for the advancement of the League that Michelle brings to the post.”

Kenyon has provided legal representation for cities, redevelopment agencies and other public agencies as city attorney and special counsel for 20 years. Her current city roster includes serving as city attorney for the cities of Rohnert Park, Calistoga and Moraga, and special counsel to the cities of Berkeley, Pacifica, San Bruno and San Mateo. She also serves as general counsel for the Livermore-Amador Valley Water Management Agency and Sanitary District No. 1 of Marin County. Currently, Kenyon serves as president of the Contra Costa City Attorney Association and is an in-demand speaker on public law issues.

Kenyon has served the League in a variety of capacities, including chairing the Attorneys Department’s Legislative and Legal Advocacy Committees. She has also served on the Advisory Board for the California Community Land Use Project. Kenyon received her J.D. from University of California at Davis (1986) and her B.A. from University of California at Berkeley (1980).

“It’s a privilege to serve in this capacity, and I see this as an exciting opportunity to enact change where it’s needed and to continue the many successful efforts of the League,” said Kenyon. “I am pleased that the firm supports my involvement, and I’m confident that my clients will benefit from the perspective this post brings.”
