April 30, 2004 -- McDonough Holland & Allen PC, one of Northern California's legal leaders representing both public and private sector clients, elevates three attorneys to shareholder: Seth Merewitz and Tyson M. Shower in Sacramento, and Kevin D. Siegel in Oakland, Calif. "McDonough is still in strategic growth mode," said Jeffry R. Jones, managing shareholder, McDonough Holland & Allen. "The elevations of Seth, Tyson and Kevin recognize these attorneys' contributions to our firmwide evolution and ensure that our clients in Northern California's land use and construction industries and those in the public sector continue to receive the top-flight service and customized legal counseling they have come to expect from our firm." Merewitz, 33, is a member of McDonough's redevelopment, public law and land use section, where he represents land developers on complex land use entitlement and permitting matters, including infrastructure financing, inclusionary housing and environmental compliance matters. In addition, Merewitz provides advisory and transactional services to public agencies and has been involved with redevelopment, military base reuse and general municipal matters as city attorney for Marysville, Calif. and as special counsel to redevelopment agencies across the state. He served as an appointed planning commissioner for Yolo County, Calif. from 1996 through 1998 and has several publishing and speaking credits. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis, School of Law (1997) and his B.A. from the University of California, Davis (1993). As a litigator specializing in construction law, Shower, 31, focuses on public and private contracting, mechanics' liens, public and private stop notices and surety disputes. His trial experience includes serving as lead counsel for one of the region's largest construction companies. Shower's construction clients include A. Teichert & Son, Inc., J.R. Roberts and J.B. Bostick Co., Inc., as well as public and private owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and construction sureties. Tyson earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis, School of Law (1997) and his B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business (1994). In the firm's Oakland office, Siegel, 37, practices litigation and transactional law emphasizing municipal, land use, eminent domain and constitutional matters. He currently serves as assistant city attorney for Calistoga, Calif., and he represents many other local agencies, primarily in litigation. Siegel also works with the California cities of Alameda, Fremont, Moraga, Oakland, Pacifica, Rohnert Park and Sonoma. Prior to joining McDonough, he was an associate deputy city attorney at the San Jose City Attorney's Office and a legal research attorney for the San Francisco Superior Court. Siegel has authored articles published in the Hastings West Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy and the California Redevelopment Association Journal. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Hastings College of the Law, University of California, San Francisco (1997) and his B.A. from Columbia University (1988). |
