Professional Experience

Jerry Ramiza is a member of the firm’s Oakland office, where his practice emphasizes transactional redevelopment matters, public agency law and real estate law.

Prior to joining McDonough Holland & Allen PC in 1999, he was affiliated with firms in Newport Beach and San Francisco.

Redevelopment/Real Estate/Land Use

Jerry’s experience includes drafting and negotiation of leases, purchase and sale, owner participation and disposition and development agreements. He represents developers on redevelopment agency assisted projects and advises property owners and developers on leasing, acquisition and land use entitlement processes. He is the lead attorney for the Emeryville, Pleasant Hill, Concord, San Bruno, Vallejo and Foster City Redevelopment Agencies and Alameda Community Improvement Commission, and provides special counsel services to the cities of Pacifica, Truckee, Clearlake and Los Altos in connection with real estate and land use matters and the cities of Berkeley, Pleasant Hill, San Bruno and Emeryville on affordable housing matters.

Representative projects include representing developers in the land use entitlement process for a 20-unit San Francisco condominium project; the acquisition, financing and redevelopment of an approximately 12,000-square-foot office building in San Francisco; and the $18-million refinancing of a medical office building and parking garage, as well as the subsequent sale of the project.

Public Agency

Jerry’s public agency advisory work includes development of program guidelines and documentation for residential rehabilitation, first-time homebuyer, and business loan and grant programs, negotiation and drafting of agreements for development of former military bases, as well as representation of city councils and city planning commissions. He has additional experience in the areas of land use and public contracting. Jerry has also served as the acting city attorney of the City of Hercules from June 1999 to September 2000.
