John C.J. Barnes | Shareholder
Professional Experience
John Barnes joined McDonough Holland & Allen PC in 2001 and is a shareholder in the Health Care practice group. With a practice emphasizing complex managed care litigation, John has handled a broad range of managed care disputes, including risk contracting, capitation and fee-for-service reimbursement, collection practices, and network access. He has recovered in excess of $8 million in settlements and awards on behalf of health care clients. John also counsels health care entities on issues concerning federal and state regulatory compliance, charity and indigent care, contract termination, continuity of care, and business office practices. He has significant experience representing health care entities subpoenaed by the government to produce information on indigent care, chargemaster pricing, and self-pay discounts.
Prior to joining McDonough, John was a legislative analyst in the California State Assembly.
Representative Matters
Represented health care provider in class action litigation concerning third-party liens.
Developed comprehensive charity care and financial assistance policy for hospital system.
Represented terminating provider in dispute regarding health plan’s continuity-of-care plan.
