Al Holland and Felix Wahrhaftig form the Holland and Wahrhaftig partnership.
1953
Martin McDonough, Milton Schwartz, Bruce Allen and Henry Teichert form the McDonough, Schwartz, Allen & Teichert partnership.
1955
The firms of Holland and Wahrhaftig and McDonough, Schwartz, Allen & Teichert merge to form the McDonough and Wahrhaftig partnership.
Henry Teichert takes a “leave of absence” to head the family corporation, A. Teichert & Son, Inc., following the death of his father.
1958
Firm name changes to McDonough, Holland, Schwartz, Allen & Wahrhaftig.
1963
Partnership moves to IBM Building.
Joe Coomes, former Sacramento City Attorney, and Bob Puglia, former Chief Deputy District Attorney, join the firm as partners.
1969
Felix Wahrhaftig passes away.
Bob Puglia is appointed to the Superior Court bench. He later becomes Presiding Justice of the Third District Court of Appeal.
1973
Partnership moves to its present location at 555 Capitol Mall with 10 partners and 4 associates.
1974
Partnership incorporates as a professional corporation.
Firm becomes the first major law firm in Sacramento to hire a woman attorney – real estate shareholder, Susan Edling.
1979
Milton Schwartz resigns to accept an appointment as Judge of the United States District Court, Eastern District of California.
Firm name changes to McDonough, Holland & Allen, a Professional Corporation.
1986
Bruce Allen retires. He remains affiliated with the firm in an “of counsel” capacity.
1987
Al Holland retires. He remains affiliated with the firm in an “of counsel” capacity.
Martin McDonough passes away.
1988
Firm opens an office in Yuba City specializing in Health Care, Business Law and Public Law.
1989
Firm opens an office in Oakland specializing in Public Law.
MHA pioneers the interconnected law firm by networking it's three California offices together with the use of Macintosh computers - file sharing, email, and internet access available to any user at any office of the law firm.
1992
Gary Loveridge, Managing Shareholder, resigns to become General Counsel of Sutter Health.
1995
Harry Hull resigns to accept an appointment to the Sacramento Superior Court. He is later elevated to the Third District Court of Appeal.
1998
Robert Puglia rejoins the firm as Special Advisor after 24 years on the bench.
1999
Firm adds other Special Advisors:
John Caffrey, former Chair, State Water Resources Control Board
Bill Edgar, former City Manager of Sacramento
Dave Fogel, former IRS Enrolled Agent
2002
MHA Blood Drive tops 2,000 pints – touching the lives of more than 6,500 patients in need. This is just one example of the myriad ways the firm, its attorneys and staff contribute to the communities where we live and work.
2003
McDonough Holland & Allen PC, with more than 102 attorneys and 135 staff, celebrates its 50th Anniversary with a new name, a new look, a renewed commitment to exceptional client service, and its core values of vision, people, community.
MHA transitions to Windows PCs and updates its technology capabilities.
2005
Health Care practice added to the Oakland office to better
serve the needs of hospitals and health care providers in and around
the Bay Area.
Founding father Milton Schwartz and Justice Robert Puglia pass away.

MHA premieres SACTROPOLIS, an annual event for the Sacramento
Real Estate, Construction and Land Use communities.
2006
McDonough Holland & Allen PC launches it's redesigned website, expands web content and makes contacting attorneys easier than ever with downloadable vCards and pdf attorney biographies.
McDonough employees embrace new wellness program and become healthier, more productive individuals.
McDonough's Oakland Office one of first Bay Area law firms to be
Green Certified.
2007
McDonough advocates the Sacramento No Glass Ceiling initiative to promote a stronger family-friendly work environment.
McDonough Holland & Allen PC recognized by Sacramento Business Journal as a top company for Corporate Giving.
McDonough wins "Best Law Firm Website" at 10th Annual Dottie awards.
